Millions of Hindus  celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival – victory of good over evil

 Diwali is being celebrated in India and all over the world with dazzling display of light and colour amid concerns over coronavirus pandemic, global warming, and air pollution.

Diwali is a time for fireworks, prayers, feasts and is the most important festival in India, known as the festival of lights as people illuminate oil lamps to symbolise the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

For many, Diwali marks the beginning of a new year and also the social high points for Indians a people buoyed by the festivities, exchanging gifts.

Diwali or Deepavali popularly known as is observed on the 15th day of the Kartik month as per the Hindu lunar calendar.
