More migrants perish on the seas….Lets take action to save people at risk
The harrowing saga of asylum seekers and migrants on the seas continues but we must not ignore these stories though some of us feel there is nowhere to go with them. The numbers of people losing their lives trying to escape problems or indeed to seek a better life or both is increasing and we need to rally for a resolution to these issues if necessary sign a petition and ask parliament in the UK to take a proper organised vote to construct a plan to deal with this issue humanely and that may include trying to stop terrorism in the countries where some of the refugees come from, and also to free finance up to fund making accommodation available for these traumatised peoples. After all, what is parliament for? We are paying our taxes for our ministers and as one of the most celebrated countries worldwide we must respond intelligently and humanely AND swiftly.
Greece’s Merchant Ministry reported 19 people drowned and 138 rescued close to the island of Kalymnos yesterday – the worst incident since the war in Syria began. A flotilla of rescue boats helped save people after a boat from Turkey had taken on water and then sunk in strong winds. Another boat sank near Rhodes and 3 people drowned. 16 people died in an incident off Lesbos hours earlier. More than 300,000 refugees have reached Lesbos this year with a third of them coming in this month of October. If you want more information why not contact the Greek authorities and possibly ask where you can send a donation for the refugees.
Boat travellers from fractured lives in their countries have also arrived from Spain. In those incidents there have also been fatalities. One of them left Morocco for the Costa del Sol. Babies have been involved in the missing passengers.
Any suggestions how these people can be saved and/or flown to other countries, be it India Australia or China or other places, when they come seeking a better life and safety from terrorism are welcome. Please send your thoughts to us at The Saturn Herald. Thanks
