Potential Security breach on Marks and Spencers Website

M&Spic

A potential security breach on the M & S website has led to an apology from the firm. Last Tuesday the site was down for nearly three hours as customers were openly able to see others’ details when logging in.

However, apparently they could only see the last four digits of other peoples’ cards “for a brief moment” but there was no security risk according to an M & S spokesperson.  There was an internal problem which was fixed quite quickly.  However the public do not like the stories, including those of Talk Talk customers, involving dangerous breaches of privacy and security online where their details may no longer be secure.  A think tank needs to be organised to ensure this is not a growing “disease” where we find a “sub culture” of hackers and thieves make our security a risky business.
