Twenty eight year old Andy Murray beat big hitting 6ft 11in, Ivo Karlovic to reach Wimbledon quarter finals for eight years in a row.
The third seeded 2013 Wimbledon Champion won 7-6 (9-7), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in three hours on centre court. 36-year-old, Karlovic, who went to the match with a tournament leading 136 aces, and added another 29 to his total.
It took 62 winners and several passing shots and successful winning lobs for Murray to overcome Karlovic and prevail.
Murray said : “You’ve always be ready to take your chances. It is about getting the balance right and getting through”.
Murray had won all the five of the previous matches against Karlovic and was prepared to face an avalanche of aces.
Sarena Williams beat Venus Williams 6-4, 6-3 to reach last eight.
Federer beat Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.
