Mercedes-Benz revealed its fifth-generation E-Class saloon at this week’s Detroit Motor Show. At the launch, the company showed the most intelligent soon in the business class with the smart executive cruiser, which includes wireless mobile phone charging, voice control and touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel. The models launched include the E200 with a 2 litre, four cylinder petrol unit and the E220d with a new two litre four cylinder diesel engine with a nine-speed automatic gearbox that drives the car from zero to 62mph in 7.3 seconds with 72.4mpg fuel economy and CO2 emissions of 102g/km with a price tag of £36,000. Gesture control is the next big thing by simply waving your hand or finger will do the function.
