Uninspiring display by Brazil who could only secured their first win of the Tournament with stoppage time strikes from Philippe Coutinho and Neymar against Costa Rica.

Barcelona midfielder Coutoinho popped up to strike home from Roberto Firmino’s nod down followed within seconds Neymar, the world’s most expensive player, who tapped in Douglas Costa’s cross to secure their much needed win.

The fourth official signalled six minutes of stoppage time having had 90 minutes of goalless game.

Coutinho broke the deadlock when he fired in after substitute Firmino and Jesus had combined, In the dying minutes Neymar converted Juventus midfielder Costa’s square ball.

Brazil have own 10 0f their 11 meeting with Costa Rica in all competitions, the one loss coming in a friendly in 1960.

Neymar has been fouled 14 times so far in the 2018 World Cup, more than any other player, and has been involved in 18 goals in his last 17 appearances for Brazil ( 10 goals and 8 assists). Brazil had 72 per cent possession of the ball compared to Costa Rica’s 28 per cent.
