Poetry Please with a foreword by Roger McGough (OBE) is a book of the Nation’s best loved poems. This compendium originates from BBC Radio Four where Roger presented Poetry Please.  He has managed to compile this book as a result of his popular programmes and we can all enjoy the myriad of verse within its pages. Roger was awarded the Freedom of the City of Liverpool in 2001 and his paperback edition on poems was first published in 2013.

There are 350 poems in this collection including poems on childhood, love, wild work, nation and folk, war, death and prayers.  The most requested poem on the popular radio series was  Robert Frost’s “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”.  The book includes a Top 10 most broadcast poems and the programme “Poetry Please” celebrated its 30th birthday in 2009.
