Over 3.3m people have taken part in Unity marches across France
More than 1.6million people linked arms with 40 world leaders flocked to the French capital and took part in a march in defiance of terrorists in a moving tribute to the 17 people killed in terror attacks during three days of deadly attach in Paris last week. President Francois Hollande, British Prime Minister David Cameron and host of other world leaders joined crowds marching in their memory. An estimated 3.3million people taking part in the rally elsewhere in France. Elsewhere, US Attorney General Eric Holder joined officials at the Interior Ministry where talks were held about threats posed by Islamist extremism. President Holland told crowds: ‘Today, Paris is the capital of the world.’ The march is the largest in the country’s history – with more people turning out today than when France was liberated at the end of WWII.
The marchers wanted to demonstrate unity after the attacks on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, police officers, and a kosher supermarket.The French government said the rally turnout was the highest on record.
