New Zealand 134-8 (20 ov) Mitchell 27 off 20,  1 four, 2 sixes. Conway 27 off 24, 3 fours, Rauf 4-22.

Pakistan 135-5 off 18.4 ov, Rizwan 33 off 34, 5 fours, Asif 27 off 12, 1 four, 3 sixes, Shoaib 26 off 20, 2 fours, 1 six, Sodhi 2-28.

Pakistan won by five wickets.

Pakistan edged a nervy game against New Zealand  to win by five wicket in Shjarjah.

Chasing 135, Shoaib, 26 off 20, and Asif, 27 off 12, including 3 sixes, shared a 48 to win with 8 balls to spare.

Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali ensured Pakistan to a five-wicket win over New Zealand in the Men’s T20 World Cup in Sharjah.

Earlier, New Zealand playing their first game in Group 2, were restricted to 134-8 with Haris Rauf taking 4-22. Pakistan’s chances of semi-final qualification were given a boost,  with games against Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland yet to come.

South Africa won by eight wickets.

Defending champions West Indies are heading towards an early exit from the T20  World Cup after a second defeat.

The Porteas chased down 144 with 10 balls to spare and claim their first win of the tournament.

South Africa’s wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock’s withdrawal after refusing to take a knee.

 

West Indies are needing to win their final three Group 1 games and hoping results go their way.

South Africa face Bangladesh in Sharjah on Friday and meet Sri Lanka at the same venue on Sunday.
