Pakistan smashed 130 from the final 10 overs to post an imposing 189-2 led by Mohammad Rizwan’s unbeaten 79, who shared a 113-run stand with Babar Azam before Mohammad Hafeez thrashed 32 from 16 balls as Pakistan accelerated in Abu Dhabi.

Although Namibia produced several good partnerships to muster 144-5, their efforts were in vain.

Pakistan had reached 59-0 at halfway stage of the innings before Razwan and Babar, who made 70, began to hit constantly and more efficiently.

Pakistan’s four wins from four makes them qualify for the semi-final, with New Zealand, Afghanistan, and India desperately vying for second place.

Pakistan face Scotland in their final group game on Sunday while Namibia play New Zealand on Friday.

In the final over Rizwan hit three fours and one six off the first five balls from JJ Smit.

In reply Namibia lost opener Michael van Lingen early to a quick, Hasan Ali delivery, although a 47-run stand between Craig Williams and Stephen Baard steered them to a respectable score. But it was Wiese who gave Namibia some late energy with three fours and 2 sixes.

South Africa beat Bangladesh by six wickets after a dismal Bangladesh performance who were bowled out for 84 with 10 balls to spare having earlier skittled to 24-3 and 45-6 from which they never recovered. Anrich Nortje claimed 3-8 and Kagiso Rabada 3-20  made short work of Bangladesh batting.

In reply South Africa slipped to 33-3 to gave Bangladesh some hope before captain Temba Bavuma saw Porteas home with 31 not out and 39 balls left.

Bangladesh face Australia on Thursday, while South Africa play England in their final group game on Saturday.
