Player of the match Yasir Shah (Pakistan)

Pakistan’s Yasir Shah get his first 10-141 in Tests, his previous best was 9 for 155, and took 1-0 lead in the series after beating England by 75 runs at Lord’s on the fourth day. Set 283 to win –an almost impossible target on the ground after dismissing Pakistan inside the first ten minutes of the morning session, England’s batsman struggled to build partnerships. Yasir’s tenth wicket was of Woakes taken in slip trying to hit out with the No 10, Steve Finn with 79 still required. England had initially recovered through a 49-run partnership between Balance and James Vince, who made his career best test score before dismissed by Wahab shortly after lunch. Balance and Bairstow added another 39 runs in 13 overs of powerful and careful batting when Yasir, stuck for the first time having changed to bowling from the Nursery End, Struck for the first time. Ballance had just pulled a turning delivery through square leg to record sixth boundary and the very next ball spun harder down the slope which Ballance tried to flick hit the leg stump.
