Portugal reach Euro 2016 semi-finals for the fifth time and face Belgium or Wales, as Biaszczykowski misses decisive penalty in shootout in Marseille.
Ricardo Quaresma, scoring the winning spot-kick after Jakub Blaszczykowski‘s effort was saved. Robert Lewandowski had put Poland ahead in the second minute with teenager Renato Sanches scoring the equaliser.
Poland had 52% possession and 5 shots on target. Portugal have won two of their three penalty shootouts at major tournaments winning twice against England and losing to Spain previously.
Before close in the 119 minute Poland nearly sneak one in at the death as Blaszczykowski flies in a cross but it can’t quite meet the head of Leandowski. In the 86th minute Ronaldo misses as he played in by Moutinho’s lofted ball and he has a slim chance one-on-one with Fabianski but could not connect and the ball runs wide.
