Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II (91), and Prince Philip  (96) celebrates 70 years of marriage on November 20, Platinum anniversary. They are the first British Monarchs to reach 70 years.

The Queen is very conscious and looks elegant in a cream dress by Angela Kelly, her jewellery gold, ruby and diamond “Scarab” brooch designed by Andrew Grima, which was personal gift from Prince Philip in 1966.

In February 2017, Queen Elizabeth celebrated 65 years on the throne, making her the longest serving monarch in British history and Prince Philip has been by her side the entire time. The couple has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princes Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. Prince Charles, 69 is the heir to the throne.

Elizabeth and Philip both great-great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria and therefore cousins, first met in 1934 at a family wedding when she was eight. Philip captured her heart in 1939 when he was asked to look after Elizabeth and sister Margaret on a visit by their parents King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to the Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. Philip then 18, impressed the 13-year-old princes by vaulting over a tennis net.The pair exchanged letters during the war when Philip was away in the Royal Navy and in 1945, shortly after the end of the war, they were seen walking hand and in hand through Windsor Great Park. Philip gave up smoking the night before their wedding as Elizabeth hated the habit. They were married in Westminster Abbey on November 20, 1947, before 2, 500 guests Elizabeth’s Norman Hartnell dress was paid for by 300 rationed clothing coupons, and spend their first night of their honeymoon at Broadlands  in Hampshire, home of Lord Mountbatten.
