With two points from two washouts, Australia now have to beat England in their final group game to have a chance of making the semi-finals, and Bangladesh only have one point after two games, are also not of out contention.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal’s 95 ensured Bangladesh reached 182 in 44.3 overs, as there was virtually no support from the rest of batting line-up, apart from Shakib Al Hasan and Mehedi Hasan who scraped through double figures. Mitchell Starc finished with four wickets, three of which came in the 43rd over – including of Tamim whose freak pull took a top edge and was caught at fine leg. Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain fell off consecutive deliveries but Starc could not hit the stumps when he as on a hat-trick as Mustafizur Rahman survived the full ball that narrowly missed off stump.
Tamim struck three fours in the first five overs before Soumya Sarkar’s hit Hazlewood’s delivery that moved away from the batsman in the sixth over.
