England captain Wayne Rooney breaks England record as he scores the penalty in Euro qualifying win over Switzerland. He secured his place in history when he scored the 50th goal and elevated himself above 77 year old World Cup winning legend Sir Bobby Charlton, as his country’s highest goal scorer.

Charlton scored 49 goals in 106 appearance and ex-Tottenham Hotspur forward Gary Linekar, scored 48 goals in 80 games for England.

Rooney’s three World Cups in 2006, 2010 and 2014 have all been disappointments.
