“Roseanne” cancelled after star’s racist Twitter rage

The eponymous Star of ABC’s hit show Roseanne revival, Roseanne Cherrie Barr has received major backlash after tweeting a racially charged comment directed towards Obama’s former adviser Valerie Jarrett who is African American. She Subsequently deleted the tweet and apologized after becoming a trending topic on Twitter and getting shamed by celebrities throughout the day. “I apologize. I am now leaving Twitter.” – @therealroseanne.

Shortly after Consulting Producer, Wanda Sykes took to twitter to reveal that she won’t be returning to the show which was renewed on ABC for it’s 11th season on March 30th. “I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC” – @iamwandasykes

The decision was then made by the president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey to cancel the show. She released a statement saying “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show”. This action resulted in much praise given to both the ABC network and to Channing Dungey considering the show was ABC’s highest-rated comedy broadcast in 4 years.
