South Africa win by 90 runs and win the series 2-1

England chasing 192 to win at the Ageas Bowl lost their way going 55 balls without hitting a boundary at one stage, before being dismissed for 101 in 16.4 overs. Shamsi takes 5-24 as the hosts were defeated by 90 runs and lost the T20 series.

It is the fourth time in Six T20s this summer that England has been bowled out and there was another failure for Jason Roy who made 17 off 18 balls. Jonny Bairstow top-socred with 27, while South Africa’s left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi scalped 5-24 his career-best performance.

With this defeat, England lost a third successive T20 series, after defeats by West Indies and India earlier this year, for the first time they failed to win a white-ball series in a home summer for the first time since 2013.

For South Africa, Reeza Henricks scored 70 off 50 balls, and Aiden Markram his an unbeaten 52 off 36 as the Proteas piled up 191-05. England’s David Willey took 3-25 including removing Quinton de Kock in a wicket maiden at the start of the innings.

England’s next match is a three-Test Series against South Africa which starts at Lords on 17 August.

The next T20 will be a seven-game tour of Pakistan late in September before the Three tT20 against Australia leading into this year’s T20 World Cup in October and November.
