Stranded skiers in Italian cable car rescued!
A huge top segment of a 40-meter-tall tree toppled and blown over on to the Ciampinoi cable cars, at Val Gardena resort, used by about 200 stranded holiday skiers as a result of 81mph (130km/h) winds.
Firefighters and expert mountain rescue, were lowered on to the cabins from helicopters who evacuated the horrified skiers from over 20 different cabins using ropes. There was also grave fears that the cable could snap at any moment. All skiers escaped without any serious injuries.
