The Zoological Society of London has received a record 2, 732 animals found In the River Thames. Many spotted seals, 444 porpoises, dolphins and 49 whales around London’s Canary Wharf. Especially seals were sighted upstream as far as Teddington and Hampton Court Palace. The Dolphins and the porpoises were spotted at Teddington lock, Kew Gardens and Deptford. The scientists estimate around 700 harbour seals along the estuary.

The European conversation Projects Manager of ZSL Joanna Barker said “Many are looking into the Thames and seeing murky environment in the surface but underneath the waves it is full of life. We also have huge range of fish and invertebrates”.
