Zoolander

The “Human Zoo” mark 2 pulls plenty of punches

Zoolander2Zoolander

Zoolander 2 is so full of quirky jokes, satire and sarcastic humour it takes a few days after watching it to digest it all but it is definitely the full shilling if one wants a visit to the cinema to give you an “outside the box” experience with plenty of laughs and eye-popping fashion and locations to boot. Please however do not expect a story which you can really relate to too heavily , except for perhaps the tug of love drama over Derek’s cute son who is found to be residing in a school in Rome which includes a farcical mistaken identity scene.

Derek – Ben Stiller, and Hansel – Owen Wilson, have both had their fair share of fashion episodes over the years and are suddenly brought out of retirement – Derek from a mountain lodge full of snow and  Hansel from a hideout in the desert where he has exciting sex games with his friends and wears a mask over one eye to hide what turns out to be a close to non – existent scar.  They arrive in Rome to find they are rooming together at a “designer shab” hotel and  discover they are networking with all manner of fashion icons and fashionistas in general.

Going swiftly back to the opening of the saga – and for a reason, one of the mini plots in the story is that Justin Beiber has been hunted down by gangsters and murdered – played by himself!! Others in the same fraternity are wondering if they are next on the list – however this plotline is not fully followed up in the rest of the story.

Back to the drama.. expect espionage, mistaken identities, over the top and exceptionally funnily thought out plotlines and laughs and much posing, including Derek’s tweaked lips, furrowed brow and “caught in the headlights” stare…. and Hansel’s more than bordering on androgynous, snazzy, innocently blue eyed stares and fancy garb whilst the very “dynamic duo” meet and do business with actors Penelope Cruz looking as stunning as anyone in the film, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kristen Wiig, Lenny Kravitz and of course as aforementioned Justin Bieber.

I cannot give lip service to all the actors in this saga but do like to raise a glass to the funny antics these fashionistas have portrayed for us all to take in –  sometimes on a cold day in Britain. No – the fashion world is not completely mad.  All of us with disposable income like to dress up the best we can.  Therein madness lies? Only when it becomes an obsession over and above the more necessary and demanding things in life.  Don’t let Zoolander 2 stop you dressing to impress and do enjoy the farce a new groundbreaking comedy has portrayed to us.  Enjoy.
