Thousands of flights have been canceled worldwide to cope with the slump in demand caused by the coronavirus.

Ryan Air will stop services to and from Italy from Friday 8 April, BA scrapping its routes until 4 April as Italy goes into total lockdown.

Easy Jet has cancelled all of its flights to and from Italy between 10 March to 3 April.

Norwegian Air has said it will cut out 3000 flights in the next three months.

American Airlines cutting 7.5 per cent of its domestic flight in April.

Some airlines had continued to operate practically empty flights to protect their rights to take-off and landing slots under the EU  “use it or lose it” rules, they were required to run services on busy routes or forfeit them to other operators.
