Travis Perkins axe 600 jobs as sales slump

Britain’s biggest supplier of building materials, FTSE 100 firm Travis Perkins,  is to axe 600 jobs and close over 30 branches as it would not meet £415m market expectations for the full-year profits. Its poor performance of plumbing and heating division contributed  fall in underlying sales.

The group trades from over 20 businesses including Tile Giant, Wickes across 2000 UK stores.
