Trump’s Tweet wipes billions off Amazon’s value
A single Tweet from Trump wipes billions off Amazon’s value, after saying “ Doing great damage to tax paying retailers. Towns, cities and states throughout the US are being hurt – many jobs being lost”.
The online retail giant’s shares fell 1.2 per cent ahead of the opening bell after Trump’s comments. However, shares later recovered to trade about 0.5 per cent down.
Previously Trump has criticised Amazon and Washington Post, owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, for its coverage of his presidency.
Back in June 2017, Trump tweeted :“ AmazonWashingtonPost, sometimes referred as guardian of Amazon not paying internet Taxes.”
