Wales roared past Russia with shocking display in their final group game at Euro 2016 to reach the knock out stages of a major tournament for only the seocn d time in their history.

Aaron Ramsey’s clipping finish put Wales ahead within 11 minutes before Neil Taylor scored his first international goal as Chris Colean’s displayed an inspired first half. In the second Gareth Bale struck to become the tournament’s leafing scorer with three goals in all three group game         .

England’s goalless draw against Slovakia in St- Etienne means Wales progress to last 16 as Group B winners and will face third-placed team from Group A, C or D. Gareth Bale has hit 12 shots on target at Euro 2016 and is in good shape to beat Michael Platini’s all time record of 15 in 1984. Gareth Bale said “It is probably the best performance I’ve been involved in with Wales. We started very well, we didn’t feel too nervous.”

Hodgson made six changes including resting captain Wayne Rooney, and England had the better chances with Slovakia keeper Matus Kozacik saving well when Jamie Vardy broke clear in the first half and blocked a Nathaniel Clyne . Rooney came on after 55 minutes, but Slovakia successfully defended manfully for what could prove to be precious point. England qualify to knock stage and are off to the south of France and Nice, playing next Monday instead of Saturday and will definitely regret not finishing top of Group B. They now go into the half o the draw containing France, Germany and Italy. England had 61% possession but could not score any goal out of the 29 shots and 11 corners.
