Watch out, you are being tracked!
Facebook can recognise you in photos even if you are not looking, as you are being secretly tracked with facial recognition- a computer application for automatically identifying or verifying a person from a digital image or video frame and video source, by providing 3 core vision detection of 83 points of the face, recognition of the age and gender, and analysis of these data increasing incredible user experience. Facebook has come up with yet another smartphones application for sharing photos on the social networking site.
The new app, called Moments, permits smart phone users to share photos of friends privately, by sifting through images with facial recognition and aims to increase the number of photos being shared on the site especially the recently updated privately-shared album option. As soon as the app boots up after installation, it scans the entire smartphone’s camera roll and puts them in a private bucket based on geo-tagging (when they were taken) and using facial recognition technology, which friends are in them. There is a second bucket called synced which the user can privately sync those photos quickly with specific friends and they can choose to sync their photos with you as well. This could be popular and useful when you go to a wedding, as there are many people taking unique exclusive photos throughout the event. This provides a platform to share your photos with the friends who are in them, and get photos that you’re in back to you.
Will Ruben product manager said “It’s hard to get photos your friends have taken off you, as everyone always insists on taking that same group shots with multiple phones to ensure that they get a copy”.
The app is available for iOS and Android devices from their respective app stores.
