Barnsley Sky sports reporter turns to the church with new career

Why would someone give up his job as a rugby journalist for Sky Sport?  Well in this case Ben Hampshire 24 has become a campus pastor in a South Yorkshire church.  Legacy Church has a network providing services in Edlington, Skellow and  Swansea as well as in Barnsley Rotherham and Doncaster.

Having started this month, the Barnsley campus is to be relaunched at Horizon Community Centre with a new “feel and approach” to the church. Ben says “there will be live music, refreshments before the service and young people actively involved”.  Ben first got involved with the church when studying at Leeds Trinity University.  After that he continued to frequent churches and then felt what some call a calling to give up sports journalism and go into the church full time.  Ben says “As a church we passionately believe in the power of generosity and one of the projects closest to our heart is our #LoveGives movement, where we encourage our congregations to use spontaneous acts of generosity”.
