Boat race part of Onam celebrations

 

 

State of Kerala in Southern India, snake boat races long traditional canoe style boat used by the local residents to wade to back waters of kerala. It’s a traditional war boat of kerala 120 feet long snake boat with over 80 rowers.

Each of the villages in the region has its own snakeboat which they take great pride in  and race the boats along the lakes and rivers.  The tradition going on for over the 400 years  can be traced back to the kings of Alleppey and surrounding areas.
