England is confident of a sensational win over India in the fifth Test at Edgbaston after they moved to 259-3 still needing 119 more on the final day with 7 wickets in hand.

Joe Root 76 not out and Bairstow 72 not out, pitched in with an unbroken partnership of 150. Root was dropped twice. England openers chasing  378, Lees and Crawley bring up a 100-run opening stand off 19.5 overs fastest in England Test history.  Lees reaches second Test fifty off 44 balls. Crawley was bowled by Bumrah for 46.

Overnight India lost carelessly six wickets for 55 tuns to be bowled out for 245. Ben Stokes ran through the lower order for 4-33. Stuart Broad strikes in his first over the day as Cheteshwar Pujara 66, is caught by Alex Lees at backward point.

James Anderson became the 10th player to take 100 catches in Tests for England to remove Shreyas off Potts, Strokes strikes three times after lunch as India was dismissed for 245 a lead of 377.

India are 2-1 up and looking for their first series win in England since 2007. If England could complete the run chase, the ninth-largest in the history of Test cricket.
