England lead by 489 runs with 9 wickets remaining.

England did not enforce the follow-on but opeted for meaty 391 run lead against the Pakistan side that had beaten them at Lord’s at the Old Trafford Test. However, Cook’s reluctance to ask their bowlers to go the extra mile and bowl for a second time. However, England advanced that lead to 498 in 21 overs for the lone loss of Alex Hales, with bothg Joe Root’s 23 and AN Cook’s 49 not out. Earlier England middle order malfunctioned, James Vince, Gary Balance falling cheaply. Pakistan’s Captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored a half century with stubborn stroke adding 60 in 15 overs with Wahab Riaz for the nine wicket to hold up England after lunch before a top-edged sweeo agustnMoeen Ali was held by Cook at short fine leg. CR Woakes took four wickets.
