“How West London Wins!” – FAB new Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass Gin Bar:-  drinks and high drama immersive experience near Notting Hill.

Just on the doorstep of Westbourne Park Tube or indeed a short walk from Notting Hill or Ladbroke Grove Tubes is a new Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass inspired Gin Palace enticingly named “Mr Mercurial’s Hat Emporium” and “The Cheshire Cat – Cocktails and Culinary Contentments” in Westbourne Park Road cosily next to Dominos Pizza . Already opened, it is a pop up with the last complete day being 31/1/20.  Described as an immersive Gin experience it is a ticketed event where you can buy your tickets up to 15 mins before the next show.  Tues to Fris the show will be on at 5,7, and 9pm, Sats, 1,3,5,7, and 9pm and Suns 12,2,4,6, and 8pm.  What show?  Well with your four cocktails and very unusual food menu, the times cited are for a free theatrical show – kept well under wraps so as not to be a fun spoiler but an AMAZING interactive experience!  You can find your tickets as follows:- www.madhattersginteaparty.com or secretldn.com.  The price is fixed at Fifty pounds for a 90 minute experience including the four cocktails and tea party with some enticing unusual food though you are carefully monitored for general allergies on arrival. Expect to eat before or after the experience – though you taste unusual goodies, they’re not in place of a regular meal, and there’s plenty of places to eat locally including The Westbourne, The Cow and The Prince Bonaparte.

Tanya Clark of Kit&caboodle is the designer of the theatrical venue including a mesmerizingly sculpted cat above the bar in The Cheshire Cat section, which might yet prove a collectable in the art world.  Manager Matt Dyer works for events companies and is a fascinating guy with a wealth of experience, and a fine taste in hats.

Your drinks will encompass JaBOEwocky, Alice’s BOE, Drink Me BOE and the Welcome Cocktail is CHESHIRE CAT GIN – 35ml BOE Passion Fruit Gin 60ml Cranberry, 15ml Scottish Bramble and a Lime Wedge. You can google BOE gin online to discover their respectful heritage.

Molly Beth kinda plays the blue lipped Lady Marmalade style  hostess to the playing out of scenes from Alice, as Morossa.  The Queen and Dave are played by one and the same impressive actress. The whole immersive experience is scheduled to last an electrifying 90 minutes so grab your tickets now and maybe you’ll want to go back again! Don’t forget last complete show on Jan 31st!

The capacity in the downstairs is 36.  There are opportunites for private hire.

Next week starting 23 Sept the venue is open Thurs 26, Fri 27,  Sat 28  and Sun 29.

When you consider the cost of theatre tickets with your having to buy drinks before and during the performance, and compare it with this rare interactive sociable funny and mischievous arty event, my money is on the Mad Hatters (Gin) Tea Party! Trust me – you’ll love it. ENJOY

Writer Penny Nair Price’s note:-  the E on BOE gin has an umlaut.  My computer doesn’t do those for me to my knowledge! Hic Hic! Cheers!
