Covid-19

According to  World Health Organisation  (WHO), a significant number of people have long term effects from Coronavirus enduing very debilitating, leading many to be unable to work and function properly, as many are severely affected by the chronic condition of long Covid and face major challenges.

Doctors and scientists are focusing to solve this medical mystery as long Covid is rapidly becoming one of the most pervasive health crises of the modern age as 1.1 million people in the UK alone were estimated to be suffering from long Covid symptoms in the four weeks from February 6th, as some may have post-viral fatigue or permanent organ damage. Working-age women are 5 times more likely to develop long Covid compared with men.

Although the UK has been ahead of the curve in recognising Long Covid, the National Health Service is facing an entirely new disease with few ideas about how best to treat it.

Some symptoms include Brian fog, memory loss, Blurred vision, Tinnitus, Headaches, Anxiety, depression, Coughing up blood, fatigue, Dizziness, Loss of sense of smell, Hearing loss, Heat intolerance, Insomnia, palpitations, shortness of breath, elevated temperature, vomiting, peeling skin, diarrhoea, Tachycardia (elevated heart rate), burning sensation in the chest, Chills, Flushing, sweats. Irregular or heavy periods, constipation, testicular pain, Petechiae ( tiny red spots caused by bleeding under the skin), joint pain, muscle aches,  Covid Toe and fingers ( discolouration and swelling), post-exertional malaise, rashes, new allergies, brittle or discoloured nails, bladder control problems.

On September 9, the WHO published in a 20-page presentation, the emerging problem “ Most people with Covid19 experience mild symptoms or moderate illness and for some symptoms may linger or recure for weeks or months following initial recovery and even some patients develop medical complications that may have lasting health effects”.

India reported 379,257 new infections on Thursday, the world’s highest single-day total. Hospitals have been overwhelmed, oxygen is critically in short supply and crematoriums are operating non-stop. The overall death toll is now 204, 832.

So far, India has been vaccinating health workers, front line workers and adults over the age of 45, as only 10 per cent of the population has received an initial jab compared to UK’s 70 per cent o the population who have covid antibodies. The Uk government also has announced it has secured another 60 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to use as a booster jab to protect the country’s progress ahead of the winter months.
