A Flybe flight 1274, from Amsterdam to Manachester, with 76 passengers on board was forced to make an emergency landing at Birmingham Airport after a tyre burst while taking–off .

Birmingham Airport was closed off for half an hour on Monday 29 August 2016, afternoon due to the incident. No-one was injured but flights were delayed on the ground and in the air whle safety checks were carried out.

According to a passenger on board “We had to circle Birmingham Airport for about an hour to burn fuel, fire brigade, ambulances and emergency services crews were ready, before we could land.”

A Flybe spokesman apologised to passengers for the inconvenience, and sais that the decision to redirect the flight was taken “as precautionary measure, to take into consideration more favourable wind conditions”.

The company took the stranded passengers by coach from Birmingham to Manchester.
