World Vegan day is on November 1st.

The Vegan Society says half of all vegans are now aged between 15 and 34 and more adults have switched to a plant-based diet in the last three years.

Veganism actually existed more than two hundred years ago in1874.

Towards the end of World War II, Donald Watson from the British Vegetarian Society come up with the word Vegan, inspired by the word vegetarian and took the first three letters and last two from “vegetarian”.

Vegans avoid any products that are associated with animals. And some avocados are produced by the work of bees.

“Plant-based foods are a growth engine, significantly outpacing overall grocery sales and we are now at the tipping point with the rapid expansion of plant-based foods across the entire store. So it is critical for retailers to continue to respond to this demand by offering more variety and maximising shelf space to further grow total store sales” Julie Emmett, senior director of Plant-Based Food Association.

Famous vegans include, Ariana Grande, Bill Clinton, Beyonce, Natalie Portman, Venus Williams, Mya, Virat Kohli and many others.

Recent studies have revealed that going vegan facilitates weight loss and contribute to lower cholesterol, body-mass index and blood pressure. A protein-rich diet like soya bean, lentils, chickpeas, black beans and quinoa and green vegetables with most nutrient-dense low in calorie and high in fibre content including spinach, broccoli mustard grenns is essential for losing weight
